Labor Day... Literally

We started the fence around the house pad on Monday by digging 5-ft holes for the corner posts. I'm learning there is a lot of elbow grease, sweat, heat, bruises, and blisters involved. I can now add surveyor and fence-post digger to the ol'resume! We put in 5 on Monday & then another 2 this past Sat. The ground is so hard, that it broke a pin on the auger. We put water in the hole & it still didn't work. Maybe we'll get some rain from one of these phantom hurricanes so we can put in the next 7 soon.

We didn't work all day - we spent the evening with Mike, Traci & boys. We had great hamburgers and another awful game of Rook. (Gina, you must remember to pass the card when you have an awesome hand or it'll be a mis-deal & you'll loose your 190 points!)

This is my favorite machine - it digs the first 3 feet in about 2 minutes!
This is how you dig the last 2 feet. Toby was lots of help by checking it out & throwing dirt back in!

Hi Gina- keep safe tonight with the dogs. We are thinking of you guys during Ike (do you regret the phrase "phantom hurricanes"?) Looks like that you are quite the fence hole digger- no fire ant bites to go with those blisters? Give Cliff a big hug from us, and come visit soon.

Love, Julie and crew
